Acoustic & Sound Insulation

Acoustic & Sound Insulation

The Acoustic & Sound Insulation section brings together materials that solve the two problems most often reported in multi-story buildings, offices, and hotels - impact noise carrying down to the floor below, and sound traveling through walls and ceilings. Among these sound insulation materials, the first group covers underfloor products: DAMTEC® Standard is laid beneath parquet, laminate, carpet, and ceramic tile flooring (in dry areas), as well as under PVC and linoleum coverings, cutting unwanted noise both in your own home and for the neighbors below. For projects with heavier loads, DAMTEC® Multi from Germany's Kraiburg is used instead - a product applied beneath a screed (5-6 cm), delivering ΔLw = 21 dB at just 3mm thickness and ΔLw = 24 dB at 4.5mm, giving maximum impact sound insulation at minimal construction thickness. To stop airborne noise passing through walls and ceilings, TECSOUND® is applied - a high-density, adhesive, elastic membrane that, despite its very thin profile, delivers outstanding acoustic performance in conventional wall and ceiling structures without adding noticeable thickness to the existing system.

These three products are frequently specified together: in residential projects, DAMTEC® goes under the floor while TECSOUND® is applied to shared walls, reducing both footfall noise and conversation carrying between neighboring rooms. In hotel and office projects, this combination heads off the noise complaints most commonly raised by guests and staff. Installation of DAMTEC® involves rolling the material across the floor before the finish flooring is laid, while TECSOUND® is adhered to the wall or ceiling surface ahead of standard finishing work - neither requires complex equipment.

These materials need no maintenance, since both remain hidden beneath the finish and continue working invisibly throughout the building's service life. In major renovations of older buildings, combining DAMTEC® with TECSOUND® can noticeably improve acoustic performance without additional structural work. For projects in Baku, the Aspen Group team calculates the right thickness and product based on floor type, ceiling construction, and project budget.
